Cheer Program

About Our Program

HF United cheer is a recreational sideline cheer program that also offers a competitive cheer component for girls and boys ages 6-14 (athletes age 14 must be in 8th grade). We bring the SPIRIT to our football games. We welcome all skill levels and all registered athletes may participate (no try-outs required).

For sideline cheer we are members of the River Valley Youth Football League (RVYFL). There are four levels that are determined by age:

Super Lightweight - Ages 6-7

Lightweight - Ages 8-9

Jr. Varsity - Ages 10-11

Varsity - Ages 12-14*

*Athletes must be age 6 prior to July 31st. Athletes age 14 must be in 8th grade during the season.

Registration Information

Registration Fees for Fall 2025 Season (Sideline only, cheer for football games only; opens February 1, 2025):

  • Early Bird Registration (ends February 15, 2025) - $300 with $50 deposit

(minimum deposit guaranteed through February 15th)

  • Regular Registration (ends May 31, 2025) - $350 with $75 deposit

(minimum deposit guaranteed through March 31st)

  • Late Registration (ends July 31, 2025) - $400 with $100 deposit

(minimum deposit guaranteed through June 30th)


(All deposits are non-refundable and no refunds will be granted after June 1, 2025)

Payment plans and multi-participant discounts are available. (10% off for each additional participant)

*Note: There is a 2% processing fee included at time of registration. There is also a credit/debit card processing fee if chosen as the payment method. There is an option for ACH payments to avoid the additional fee.

Registration fees include the following items:

  • cheer shell and skirt (rental)
  • cheer crop top (worn underneath shell)
  • cheer brief
  • game bow
  • breast cancer bow (for October games)
  • breast cancer socks (for October games)
  • practice shirt
  • warm suit
  • team bonding activity


**Parents will need to purchase white cheer shoes.

**New this season is weekly tumbling class for 5 months** (optional add on) (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

  • Can be added on to registration when checking out
  • Weekly classes starting in May until September
  • Highly encourage for all skill levels


Cost is $50 per month and will need to be paid in full at the time of registration.

Each athlete must attend an in-person sizing to get fitted for their uniform. All in person sizing dates and times will be listed in the calendar as well as communicated via email. If an athlete is not able to attend an in person sizing date a uniform that is available in the closest size will be provided.

Important Things to Know

Season Expectations:

  • Practices will be located outside at either Homewood-Flossmoor High School or Apollo Park depending on availability. Once weather gets colder cheer will move to an indoor facility. Indoor location to be determined at a later date and subject to availability. Practice Schedule will be provided at the start of season.
  • Practices are 2 days a week and then drop down to 1 day a week once practice has moved indoors.
  • Games can be played on either Saturdays or Sundays. Cheer will follow the football schedule and cheer for their appropriate team RAIN or SHINE. Schedule will be distributed at the start of the season, once details are confirmed by River Valley Football League (RVYFL).
  • All athletes are required to participate in the entire football season including playoff games (depending on your team schedule).
  • Athletes are expected to arrive 1 hour prior to every weekend game.
  • Each family is responsible for transportation to games. Most games are local with a max travel time up to 45 minutes depending on the location of the game.  All levels play at the same location (exception during playoff games).
  • Participants do not have to reside in Homewood-Flossmoor district. All surrounding communities welcome.


Organization Requirements:

  • All athletes MUST submit a sports physical that is dated 1/1/25 or later by August 1st. An email will be received with a link to upload once your athlete is rostered.
  • Each athlete MUST fundraise a minimum of $100. Fundraising money goes toward items such as paying for practice and game facilities, referee fees, reconditioning equipment, replacing equipment, end of season banquet, etc. All money is reinvested back into the organization. There is a fundraiser buyout option of $102. If buyout option is selected, it must be paid in full at the time of registration.
  • Each athlete's family MUST complete 2 volunteer job (equals approximately 4 hours) during the season per registered athlete. The volunteer job can be completed by a family member age 16 and older. Sign up for volunteer jobs will be provided at the start of the season. There is a volunteer buyout option of $250. If buyout option is selected, it must be paid in full at the time of registration.
  • We encourage a high level of communication between coaches and parents regarding concerns related to cheer, academics, behavior, etc.


Fall 2025 Season

Registration for Fall 2025 Season opens January 25, 2025 for returning athletes and February 1, 2025 for new athletes.
